On Mayday, May 1 2020, workers faced a new challenge: the coronavirus pandemic. In partnership with the Movement School and Housing Justice 4 All, Sunrise NYC members organized a #CancelRent action. The action focused on gaining rent release for NYCHA tenants, and included a banner drop from the Queensboro bridge and complementary digital actions.
Earth Week Goes Digital
Organizing around Earth Day was a top priority for our movement during the first months of 2020. Obviously, COVID-19 has dramatically impacted our plans, and we have to adapt!
